Intricon Celebrates Minnesota Manufacturing Month

In Intricon’s headquarters state of Minnesota, manufacturing accounted for $56 billion (or 14%) of the state’s gross domestic product and provided more than 310,000 jobs (or 11.3%) of statewide employment last year. Manufacturing employees took home $23.4 billion in wages from manufacturing jobs in the state last year, which is the second-largest total payroll among private sector industries in Minnesota. Average annual wages for workers in manufacturing are $74,630, which is 10% higher than other Minnesota industries.

Minnesota Manufacturing Month is a program of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). It was designed to call attention to the open positions in this dynamic industry – from entry level to highly skilled jobs.

“Awareness campaigns like Minnesota Manufacturing Month work,” said Sara Hill, chief human resources officer at Intricon, who notes that Minnesota added almost 15,000 manufacturing jobs between August 2021 and August 2022. “Intricon is proud to have welcomed many new employees in past year. At the peak of our recruitment, we were adding 4-5 jobs per week. And, people like working at Intricon and in manufacturing. Employee turnover at Intricon is one of the lowest in the medical device manufacturing industry, at under 3 percent.”
